The Author:

 

Thomas William Fife is a lifelong amateur historian who has been a student of the phenomenon of American volunteerism during World War One for the past 25 years.  From his youth growing up in Barboursville, West Virginia, Tom has always been fascinated with the past.  From listening to family stories about The War Between the States from his grandmothers to discovering the mysterious and esoteric history of the American Field Service, he has always been driven to understand the rest of the story.  This book, if anything, is a testament to this man's curiosity.  Tom lives in a small town south of Atlanta, Georgia, with his two teenage children and works in the motion picture/ television industry as a special effect technican.
